Welcome to Lanner Equestrian Centre
Home of the Riding Pool and much more!
Our aim is to teach horsemanship and horse riding from the ground up, preparing all of our clients with a solid knowledge and foundation of how to understand, handle, care for and ride a horse. Then, when they are ready to have their own horse, they will have the skills required to choose the right horse for them and the knowledge to care for him properly.
Not everyone will want to spend hours doing the kind of ground work that may be associated with youngsters, but here, simple and important tasks like catching a horse, leading him in from the field, grooming and tacking him up are all part of what we offer. It's these little things that help you to develop a relationship with your horse. Then, when you come to ride him, he knows who is getting on him and you know what he is like before you get on!
We have lovely calm, relaxed and settled horses and ponies ranging from 8hh to 18.1hh. who will only ever do 2 sessions each a day maximum. That way they stay fresh and alert and much more like ponies you would own if you could. You can partner with them to learn ground skills, flatwork & dressage, show jumping and cross country and take you for rides out on the amazing network of bridleways and tracks in the fabulous countryside of West Cornwall. We can cater for any level of experience and we very rarely, if ever, ride for just an hour, we just get on and go! We assess all our riders and want to know what it is you want from your riding and work out how best to provide you with that.
If you are an absolute beginner, that is where we will start, so that you can progress safely and at a speed that suits you and the horse you like riding. We usually start people off on a very gentle plod or on the lunge, that way our horses stay fresh and responsive and our clients learn to stay on!
If you are more experienced, prepare for a bit of fun and excitement as we have a good blast or three and the occasional pop over a natural fence.
And if you are somewhere in between, that's fine too, we will look after you and go at a safe but fun pace to suit you. Please note, we rarely have more than six horses on any hack, which allows you the opportunity to ride your horse rather than just be towed along with the herd!
